Thank Heavens for Trailer Hitches!

Last Thursday I was in an accident with the kids on the 101 freeway. It was sooooo scary. Traffic was at a complete stop. I was nervous that the person behind me (who was driving a heavy duty van) wasn't going to stop so I was watching in my mirror prepared to pull out on to the side of the road if I needed to. Well luckily he stopped so I focused on the traffic ahead of me wishing it would go because it was already way past Justin's nap time. All of a sudden I heard the screech of tires and then a loud bang as our car was pushed forward. The car behind the van didn't stop! It was a little Honda Accord. After the initial shock wore off that we were just in an accident, I turned to calm the kids. Luckily, Isabelle only cried for a minute and then went back to sleep, but the look on Justin's face will be something that I will remember always and it still brings tears to my eyes when I think of it. He was so scared and had huge tears falling down his face. He did eventually calm down and thankfully our new car has a DVD player and so he just went back to watching the elephant movie (Ice Age). I then called Dave, who was in the area, and he rushed over to help keep me and the kids calm. When I finally did get out to look at the damage to the car (which we hadn't even added to our insurance yet) I was amazed to find that the only damage was to the trailer hitch. It saved our car! It stopped the giant van behind us from crashing into the bumper and doing any major damage. The next hour was filled with firemen, highway patrol and ambulances. Luckily everyone was okay, even in the other cars. The firemen took our vitals and when he was checking Justin out, who was still in his carseat, Justin was getting mad because he couldn't see his movie! Obviously, Justin is okay and thankfully so is Isabelle. I was a little sore at first, but felt fine the next day. Of course I didn't have my drivers license or proof of insurance with me, but thankfully the cop let me off and didn't even give me a lecture. He could probably tell I was already stressed enough! I know that the Lord was looking out for us and kept us safe and I am very grateful for that!

Finally some time to blog!!!!! We have been super busy since Thanksgiving and I haven't had much free time. A lot has happened though so I will try to catch you up!

Isabelle's Blessing

We were finally able to bless Isabelle last Sunday. She is three months old now and I can't believe how big she is getting! I love having her as part of the family and it's hard to imagine that there was ever a time where we didn't have her. I think Justin is finally accepting her too because he doesn't seem to hit her as much anymore. Instead he has decided to steal her pacifier!

We Moved Finally!

I never thought the day would come but it did. Our house still isn't done but it is at least livable because we had to move out of our old house so that the people renting from us could move in. It is a beautiful house and we are so excited to be in it. It is much bigger than our old house and by the end of the day my legs are really tired from walking from one end of the house to the other! I will take pictures and post them later. Right now there are too many boxes in the way!

Robyn's Many Activites!

Robyn is staying busy with all of her activities and keeping us busy as well attending all of her performances. This picture is from her school Christmas program. She is in the front row towards the middle. We also attended her hip hop dance recital, and her piano recital. She is very talented and did great at all of them!

Justin's Fat Lip

Justin got his first fat/ bloody lip the other day thanks to our dog, Molly. He was really tough though and only cried a little bit. He could tell that something was wrong with his lip because he kept playing with it. I took several pictures trying to get him with a normal mouth so you could see his fat lip, but every time I took it he was puckering up. I thought it was a cute picture.

Thanksgiving in St. George

My whole family went to stay with my parents for Thanksgiving. It was a full house but luckily there was still lots of room for all of the kids to run around. I love getting all the cousins together and watching them play. They have so much fun together. We did lots of fun things during the week like see the St. George Temple lights, go for walks, and of course shopping on Black Friday! This is one of my favorite days of the year! Oh, and like every Poulsen get together, we ate a lot!

This is the bike that my mom got for Justin. He had so much fun on it! He didn't quite master pedaling forward but he had a lot of fun just letting people push him around on it.

Here are some pictures from our walk to the park. It might look like a nice, sunny day but it was cold! I had to go buy warm clothes for the kids since it was still 80 degrees in Arizona when we left.

Isabelle's Chair

My friend Tracy gave me this chair at my shower. I decided that Isabelle could finally hold her head up well enough to use it so I decided to put her in it. She liked it for a little while and then she let me know that she was ready to get out!

Justin's a Great Helper!

Every Saturday a neighborhood boy comes over to pick up the dog poop. Last week Justin decided that he wanted to help. I wasn't too excited about it but Justin really wanted to so I put a glove on him and gave him a bag and hoped that he wouldn't actually try to help once he got outside. Well, he did try to help and instead of using the glove he used his bare hand! It was so gross. Don't worry we washed his hands really well afterwards!

Justin's New Car!

I had been trying to find this car for Justin for a long time. Every time I tried to buy it from Craigslist I was too late. Well on Saturday I saw a sign for a garage sale so I thought I would just drive by and check it out. To my surprise there sat the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe (that's the name of the car). An even better surprise was that it was only $4! If you have ever looked for anything Little Tikes you know that even used items are still expensive. The cheapest I had seen this on Craigslist was $20 so I was very excited. Justin loves his new car. He doesn't really drive around in it. He just likes to open the door, climb in, shut the door, get out and then do it all over again. He also loves to put things in the "trunk." So far I have seen him drive around with a drink, a pumpkin, and a dirty diaper in there. I can't wait to see what he finds next to put in there!

Our new car!

We decided to get a new car since there was absolutely no extra space in our old truck. I was leaning towards a minivan but Dave didn't want one. We ended up getting a Tahoe and it is a nice compromise because it has the captain's chairs in the second row instead of a bench so Robyn can get in back without us having to flip down a bench . Plus it has navigation and a camera for when you back up so you can make sure not to hit anything. For some reason Dave thinks I really need this feature! Hopefully we can keep this truck for awhile because if feels like we are getting a different car every six months!

Halloween

We had a great time last night trunk or treating! Robyn was a pirate, Justin was a turtle and Isabelle was a leopard. Robyn had a great time getting candy, but Justin would cry every time someone would put candy in his bag! Isabelle slept peacefully in the stroller.

I'm a blogger!

Okay, i'll admit it. I didn't want to do it because it seems like everyone else already is, but I decided that it was a great way to keep a journal of what is going on with my family. So here is our official family blog.
